Thanks. Not a single ISP sales person could tell me that.
When you say "analgoue line" you just mean copper pair, right?
What is the exact RAD modem/device model? I'd like to check that.

Well yes a copper pair, but it is installed and presented exactly as a standard analogue line, except it has no voice service on it. If you so wished you could plug a standard BT Analogue device into the socket (although it wouldn't work obviously).
The box is a RAD EtherAccess LA-210 - I suspect it is a bonded SHDSL service in reality.

Which is what I suspected from some of the ISPs...which is why I can't tell if
EFM actually exists.. If it's SHDSL then by those
rules you could call anything "EFM" if it 'ends up' on Ethernet at the premises!
Thanks.

To quote wikipedia
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethernet_in_the_first_mile
EFM defines how Ethernet can be transmitted over new media types using new Ethernet physical layer (PHY) interfaces:
Voice-grade copper. These new EFM copper (EFMCu), or Ethernet over copper, interfaces allow optional multi-pair aggregation
Copper wires[edit]
2BASE-TL -- defined in clauses 61 and 63. Full-duplex long reach Point-to-Point link over voice-grade copper wiring. 2BASE-TL PHY can deliver a minimum of 2 Mbit/s and a maximum of 5.69 Mbit/s over distances of up to 2700 m (9,000 ft), using ITU-T G.991.2 (G.SHDSL.bis) technology over a single copper pair.

Anyway, back to the 2960 and the ongoing issues.
Thank you to Draytek support, David and Manoj, and he guys in Thailand I now have another version of firmware to try.
V2960 107RC2 r2427.
Which translates to version 1.0.7 RC2 - Revision 2427.
I'll report back tomorrow with progress.

Just to through in my ten cents worth - I have had nothing but problems with the 2960. WAN connections seem to stop routing and the load balancing is truly appalling. I though moving from my trusty 2950 would be a straight forward move but instead I have less hair and bag under my eyes....
