I have been given this to try by support...
http://www.draytek.co.uk/download/support/files/v2860_r76608beta.zip
I can't test this at the moment but if anyone else has time please let me know the results.

An update on my 2862, I re-flashed v3.8.9.2 yesterday and turned off brute force protection and my problems remain. Interestingly I decide to dust off my old Openreach Huawei modem and try this in bridge mode and this was fine, so the problems only exist on WAN1 and the internal modem. So back to v3.8.8.2 (ignore my mention of v3.8.8.8, that was a typo).

All was running smoothly for 1 week ... until I've decided to log onto 2862 router with WAN IP again.
The moment I logged in - the Web interface struggled to load, pings started dropping and since then ... the whole router was misbehaving with the same symptoms as before.
Only reboot was able to fix it.
After reboot = all ok again.
So its something to do with certain uptime on the router and then combination of the features which are in use, dual WAN, load balancing, Lan2Lan VPN, QOS - my uptime was 1 week.

I've given up, bought a Firebrick FB2900 and a second-hand Vigor 130 to use in bridge mode. My wallet is feeling decidely lighter but the Firebrick was created by and supported by my ISP so support should be infinitely better than from Draytek. The 2862 will be on fleabay shortly
Geroi - if it's any help, the only feature that I use in common with you is QoS

Has anyone tried v3.8.9.3 yet to see if it has the same issue?
