I then have 2860/3.8.9.2 with Brute Force Protection = intermittent issues with WAN1/WAN2 & packets being lost, PINGs droppping, VPNs dropping while the router thinks that all is OK with WAN1/WAN2.

I will have ultimate proof once I disable Brute Force Protection 2860/3.8.9.2 and re-enable load-balancing.

Watch this space.



Agreed, 3.8.8 has been stable since rolling back with load balancing & brute force enabled

I've just (1.50pm) disabled Brute Force Protection on 2860/3.8.9.2 an re-enabled load-balancing.
I will give it few hours and re-assess.

2hrs later - not a single lost ping since disabling Brute Force Protection on 2860/3.8.9.2 an re-enabled load-balancing.

This proves my theory of dodgy firmware.

I wonder if anyone from Draytek UK/SEG can comment on this. I bet they browse the forum and scratch their heads about this without admitting to an issue.

I have a ticket open with SEG UK Support and have told them others have the same issue but i dont expect they will take any notice.

I once had an issue with the WAN2 port on the 2832 when it was first out and spent hours testing and passing information back and forth with SEG tech support. Eventually i had to give up and install a 2830 but two months later i noticed a firmware update for the 2832 which resolved WAN2 issues and fixed the issue...support never bothered to tell me or update the ticket.

I'm loosing my faith in Draytek in general I'm afraid. Such a good routers ruined by dodgy firmware and hectic updates.

Follow up
3rd day for router 2862 = no problems whatsoever
2nd day for router 2860 = no problems whatsoever

If you are reading this while using 2862 or 2860 which are struggling with dual-WAN performance = disable Brute Force Protection.
