Hi - all I was looking for is a password prompt before passing internet traffic through to my internal device - it is a Technomate Satellite receiver with an "Open Source Web Interface"
This allows me to watch SAT TV from any PC in my home network.
By opening the port I think I can watch SAT TV at my friends house but the down side is that the port will be public.
I could connect via VPN and I might do this...
Thanks,
Oliver

If your friend's IP address is fixed (aren't most these days?) you can set a firewall rule to only allow access to that port from that IP. Or you can do the same thing in the "Open Ports" settings if you set it as an IP object. If the IP address is not fixed but you always watch from a specific device or devices you can use maybe use MAC address settings in the IP object instead (I've never tried this but the settings appear to be there).

Surely not... but anyway, if the Satellite box doesn't have any password then perhaps you could use a VPN? Even SSL VPN.
