open port with password was created by olivogt
Hi - is it possible with my Draytek 2820 to enable Port redirection (DMZ or open ports etc) using a password?
All I want is to connect to my external IP and access one device at home using the web interface but I don't want to open this for anonymous access...
At home I just enter 192.168.100.11 and I can access the web interface.
I would like to do this from the outside but with password only.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Oliver

Hi Oliver, I wouldn't have thought this was possible to do on the 2820.
It seems, on the face of it, that you should be putting a password on the web interface of the device you're trying to connect to ?
Cheers

Hi - thanks for the reply.
Yes, to access the web interface there is a password. At the moment, the web admin interface is on port 80.
What I would like to do is to open access to another device on my home network from the Internet BUT with password (the internal device has no password or admin option itself). So, I could add for instance a port forwarding on port 8080 (Draytek external IP) to port 80 of the internal device. However, this would mean that everyone can access the web interface of my internal device.....
My question: is there an option within the Draytek 2820 admin interface to ask first for a password before allowing to access port forwarding? or DMZ or anything else that does the job....
Thanks,
Oliver

Why isn't the password on the device sufficient ?

well... then I have to login on the draytek web interface - add the port to be open before I want to use it
and finally I need to connect to the device again to close the port...
All I would like to have is password confirmation before connecting to the device behind the firewall..
but it seems this is not possible...
Thanks,
O.

I don't understand... If you open a port, then remote access to your home public IP address will get you through to the device - the router won't intercept with its own login. You don't need to open the port before use - it stays open permanently.
If your device and the router are both using port 80 though, you need to change one of them. So, if the router admin is changed to (say) port 8080 then
http://194.107.122.12:8080 will get to your router admin
http://194.107.122.12 will get to your device
