If those three lights (ACT, USB and CSM ) flash simultaneously every time the router is turned on it means that the firmware is corrupt. A firmware upgrade using the instructions on the link jbason posted almost always recovers the situation.

If it doesn't work at first then check the PC to make sure it's on the correct IP and doesn't have something interferring with the process, like AV or firewall.

I had similar problems with two new 2820 routers. Set one up and working perfectly. next day the 3 left hand lights were flashing rapidly and the reset button did not work.

This is the reply i got from my supplier.

The router seems to be in TFTP mode. You need to upgrade the firmware into the router using TFTP procedure. The TFTP procedure is explained below

Download the latest firmware and router tools from DrayTek's website

http://www.draytek.co.uk/support/downloads.html

Install the firmware upgrade utility to a computer and then Set this
computer on static IP address as

IP address......:192.168.1.X (X is any value from 10-254 Subnet
Mask........... :255.255.255.0 Gateway IP address.... :192.168.1.1

(If you have changed from the default IP use that instead.)

Keep the firmware upgrade utility (available in the router tools ready with
file going to 192.168.1.1 and choose *.rst file instead of *.all. (The latest beta version for the 2820 does not have a .rst file, use .all instead).

Now, turn the router off, hold the reset button down, turn it back on.
After doing this you will notice that first three lights have started
flashing together. (no need to do this if the 3 lights are already flashing).

Once this is done, click send on the firmware upgrade utility quickly before
the router comes out of this mode, i.e. if first three lights stop flashing
together before you click "send" just do the process of rebooting again.
If the firmware reflash work correctly, the router will come back to normal
operation.

This worked for me. It should reset the router.

I have used drayteks for over 5 years - usually good reliable workhorses but the 2820 has some problems. I also found if you turn off DHCP and then subsequently change the IP address the router fails to enable PPPoA. It will only work after you Enable & Disable DHCP again in LAN General settings.

Thanks guys - this really help me fix my 2600vg after I tried to be smart and flash it with the incorrect software to try and get WDS enabled.

That was a bad idea. I've learnt my lesson.

Hi everyone. I finally got round to trying this and it doesn't work for me

I've tried all versions of the router tools (incl the old TFTP client). In all cases the tool tells me it's timed out. I've increased the timeout but still it fails. The router is pingable and I've reset it several times but still no joy.

I think the routers may indeed be dead unless anyone has any other suggestions?

Did you turn off your PC'S firewall as the firmware upgrade will fail every time!!

I have had the same problem with another router since and again it worked for me no problems
