Morning all.
Current setup - Draytek 2926ac as router and main WiFi in the upstairs office (where the internet comes in).
Cat5e cable all around the house and into the garden summerhouse and garage.
Previously (as supplied by ISP) I used Fritzbox routers - and I have 3 of these. I've configured them to be essentially wired access points giving signal into deadspots. The 2926 gives far better WiFi than the Fritzbox did when in the same location.
The current issues I have are that sometimes my devices hang onto the signal from a Fritzbox when they're much closer to the Draytek.
Is it worth replacing the Fritzboxes with Draytek APs in the hope that they all play better together?

Unless you have money to burn I suspect the answer is don't bother.

You could while away the hours playing with the "assisted roaming" feature - best of luck getting that to persuade clients to move :?

As I recall the 2926 doesn't have the mesh functionality - if it did it might be worth investing in a Draytek mesh. Since I moved to a 2927 with 2xAP960C and 1 AP903 in a "mesh" my wifi issues are now few and far between, but it wasn't a cheap transition. I'm saving up to replace the 903 with another 960C....

But I don't religiously check to see if clients have "roamed" these days.....

According to the spec sheets it does support mesh.
All the APs would be wired with cat5E cable

Both my 960's are wired, the 903 is the only one that isn't.

I'm sure you are aware that it is the client which decides which source to connect to; the "roaming assist" feature is supposed to help but......

Maybe I'm just lucky and have good coverage now with my setup, and roaming, or lack of it, is no longer an issue.

My "mesh status" is currently showing 6 clients connected to the router, 5 to one 960, 4 to the other and 4 to the 903. As a test I just moved one of the "router" devices (an iPhone) to the part of the house furthest from the router - it connected to the nearest 960 almost immediately.

Bringing it back upstairs it immediately connected to the router again.

I guess only you can decide if that helps

DrayTek APs such as the 903 are rock solid.

I've rolled out dozens of them - great performance and never any complaints!
