Mapping NetBIOS shares was created by santarossa
Hi all,

I have a wireless setup that includes a 2820 providing the primary ADSL connection and a LaCie NAS box hanging off one of the NICs. I also have an AP-700 in bridge mode in another part of my home.

I am able to map a network share on the NAS while connected directly to the 2820 via the WLAN by using the standard windows "map network drive" option in explorer with \\NAS\NAS_folder. I am unable to do this via a WLAN connection to the AP-700 bridge unless I use the IP of the NAS box (i.e. \\172.16.25.57\NAS_folder).

Is there something obvious like a FW rule that I should reconfigure at the 2820 to allow name resolution so that I can avoid having to specify the IP of the NAS box when connecting via the AP-700?

Thx in advance.

Success.

I managed to sort out the issue which - as you would imagine – was unrelated to the Drayteks!

I had to redefine the WLAN connection within my Kaspersky Internet Security suite as a Trusted Network and this seems to have resolved the issue with the AP-700 WLAN access.

Apologies for cluttering the forum with a newbie-esque question.
