Android vpn client & smart vpn client no longer allow older connection types

Since Android 12 it appears you can longer use XAuth or anything besides IKEv2 connections. Worst still the native draytek app won't allow anything besides SSL or OpenVPN only...

What gives?!

Has anyone found an android vpn client that allows the older connection types still or are we effectivly locked out now (not wanting to expose OpenVPN/SSL ports to the internet)
