Problem with SmartVPN client

Problem with SmartVPN client was created by kje
Windows 7 pro. Connects to our PPTP VPN (not on Vigor) using MS client and also to someone else's L2TP/IPSEC using MS Client (already had reg settings). Installed SmartVPN client 4.3.3 (and tried 4.3.4) and set up L2TP/IPSEC on Vigor 2830n. Followed all the instructions in the knowledge base. It wouldn't connect to any VPN after that with any client and also wouldn't connect to Internet using 3 dongle. Variety of PPP not configured and (mostly) DNS errors. Removed SmartVPN client and vppp driver and it all works again. Has anyone come across this and know what causes it? Quite happy to use MS client as our SSL VPN runs on Synology using OpenVPN GUI so we don't really need SmartVPN client but it would have been useful to be able to use one client
