L2TP or not was created by robertb24
I have a Windows server and have been using PPTP VPN connections which have been very reliable. I just port forward from my 2860 port 1723 and the server authenticates via RRAS. Great :)

I am now wanting to move to L2TP which after port forwarding 1701, 500 and 4500 UDP works with pre shared key etc.

However, I also have another office which I am connecting via a Lan to Lan IPSEC tunnel which breaks L2TP as that needs IPSEC to port forward to the server for authentication.

How does everyone else do it? I need VPN auth on the server so I have remote access logs and need to move away from PPTP.

thanks

Rob

My favourite, would be to establish the VPN connections to the 2860, rather than the Windows Server. You could authenticate them using the Windows machine - using either Active Directory, or Radius.
