IPSec Tunnel vs L2TP tunnel over IPSec 2860 was created by tobythetenor
Hi all,

has anybody managed to configure a (Cisco) IPsec Tunnel for Remote Dial in set-up on the 2860?

I can configure an L2TP tunnel over IPsec no problem, but that's unhelpful, as all traffic is sent through the tunnel (my client connects to an ASA 5510 with various subnets, so any traffic that's not on the local subnet gets lost (i.e. hovered up by the L2TP tunnel and sent via the VPN, where it can't go any further as opposed to going down the correct subnet).

Note, Windows doesn't have support for Cisco IPsec built-in (OS X and Linux do), so you'll need to use a third party client to try if you're on Windows.

(And no, L2TP over IPSec and Cisco IPSec is not the same, and yes, 3rd party devices support Cisco IPsec, it's not proprietary).

thanks for you help!
