Resetting Vigor P2261 to factory defaults was created by martinlcm
We have been struggling to reset a Vigor P2261 switch to factory settings. Have tried just pressing holding and releasing the reset button on the front - nothing happens. Have tried powering it on whilst holding the reset button - no mean feat standing on a ladder to get at it. Have tried telnet access from a laptop connected to the console socket on the front - no communications at all. After these reset attempts we have attempted to connect a laptop to the switch using an ethernet cable, turning off wifi on the laptop, setting the ethernet adapter on the laptop to IP address 192.168.1.10 and subnet mask to 255.255.255.0 but still no response on 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.1.226
The power light and all the ethernet port lights are on as normal. Nothing we have tried enables us to communicate with the device at all, we badly need to get into the control panel for it to set it up again or reload settings from a backup.
Can anyone suggest what to do or what I have done incorrectly?
Thanks, Martin

An update on this, I seem to have stumbled on a solution. The technique is:
-power off
-power on
-press the reset button during boot-up
-release reset button
This seems to have worked - not that I got it from the user manual!
