Hello everyone,
I'm wondering which draytek AP you guys would recommend to work with this router? I recently purchased a used AP810 but gave me nothing but trouble. Didn't matter what adjustments I made the wifi was very unstable. Got to the point where even the administrator panel wasn't responding and the General Setup page for the wifi wouldn't load.
Anyway, so I'm in the market for a new draytek AP. We'd hardwire to it from our switch then broadcast a staff network and customer access.
Thank you for your attention.
Zac

Any of the 'ax' series would be the logical match - e.g. AP906
I'm guessing you got the 810 secondhand since it's a bit of an antique (came out in 2014) - last updated in 2021...

Thanks Ian,
Will a 903 be ok? Looks like I can get a brand new ne fairly cheap. the 906 is quicker wifi speeds but i think apart from that they are the same?

I have a 2866Lac with 2x903's and that's fine.
But those are all 'ac' devices - so everything is a match - and mesh will work properly (if you need/want that and believe that Draytek's mesh actually works properly in the first place).
If you mix an 'ax' router with an 'ac' AP then mesh doesn't work and you'd have to set them up carefully to make things work just right.
So yes, the 906 is more expensive but there are going to be less headaches and your network will at least be consistent on the 5GHz band.
Others might disagree but that's my opinion.

Thanks Ian, it's so useful to get this kind of info from people like yourself.
It's not terribly more expensive so probably worth it. Anything to reduce the stress levels lol!
