Inbound connection attempt using UltraVNC was created by ronniem
Hi
Having used Draytek Routers for many years, currently mainly a crop of 2860s, and having happily used UltraVNC for remote control support of PCs at various locations simply by setting up port redirection on the routers, we now hit a problem.
At one location, we have a new BTB FTTP service, and a new Vigor2865 router.
Setting up port redirection for UltraVNC on this new router does not result in a successful connection.
As part of the diagnosis, we are looking at the router "Syslog Explorer" but are struggling to interpret the contents.
Can anyone help, by :
a) Explaining how to spot an inbound connection attempt in the router logs
b) Establishing if the inbound connection is accepted or blocked by the router
c) Sharing any similar experience, or use of UltraVNC / BTB FTTP (Full Fibre) / Vigor2865
d) Explain why port forwarding does not seem to be effective here
Thanks in anticipation,
Ronnie

Ronnie, no experience of using uvnc with draytek. But, wonder if you have considered setting up a vpn into your router and then using uvnc inside the vpn ? Then it's just down to checking the vpn log connection times agasinst your known vnc use. I assume you only have a limited number of vnc users ?
