Hi, Just a quick introduction and a simple question.

I've had a 2765 for two weeks, got to replace a Sky ER115. Everything works perfectly and am I happy to share experiences with other Sky customers. I am not an infrastructure specialist but have 30+ years in the software business.

I have paired the 2765 with a Unifi UAP-AC-PRO WAP and a Netgear GS305EP managed switch. Using VLANs I have separated traffic from SSIDs into various subnets defined on the 2765. Mostly to ensure that my data on my ethernet wired Linux and Windows hosts is completely separated from the WiFi traffic, except from my Raspberry Pi which runs a Plex server and needs access to the TV and Firestick 4k. There are some really good instructional pages on the Draytek UK web site. If you can find them!

My question is this: I noticed that there are separate back ups for binding MAC address to IP, firewall rules, VPNs, etc; but also a separate settings backup. Clearly the default settings backup does not backup firewall rules, etc, as the file sizes are just too small.

Is there anyway of being able to backup every setting in once go? I really do not want to find out I have failed to back up some bit of configuration that needs a separate backup.

I don't own a 2765, but looking at the emulator , it looks pretty standard for Draytek; in which case the backup created by "System Maintenance >>> Configuration Backup" should contain everything. Note though, that this is in a 'binary' format, whereas the individual backups are (sometimes) in human-readable form. That might explain the difference in size.

In the beginning :wink: , there was only the 'Configuration Backup', the individual backups are a later addition. For a long time, I don't remember them being 'restorable' - I used to massage them into 'telnet commands'. Seems they sneaked in the individual restore options, without telling me

OK, thank you. Every step of the way, I have been making a configuration backup via System Maintenance >> Configuration backup. Then I started wondering if I needed to do all the individual backups as well. Then after I had done those, I worried if there some I had missed out Hopefully you are right and the other backups are just for convenience. So you do not have to do a complete restore of the router settings if. for example, you want to go back to a known state of firewall configuration. That would make sense.
