2862Lac firmware corruption was created by real-itc
Evening all,

We installed a 2862Lac a customer site 18 months ago
Fairly simple setup
  • BT leased line into WAN2

  • IKE site to site VPN to second 2862Lac in warehouse

  • Handful of NAT rules for VPN, HTTPS etc

Last week the customer reported internet issue with the phones dropping
Checking the router saw the router itself was rebooting every 5-10 mins
Started with the usual powering down, switching power supplies, cables etc but the problem persisted
Noticed the firmware was a bit out of date (3.9.3 - April 2020)
Backed up config and ran GUI update to 3.9.6.2 all pretty standard stuff
However at this point I got a failure message "Firmware upgrade fail!!! The router firmware may damage now. Please try again until upgrade succcess"
Ooh, I've never seen that before!!

So I then went through everything I could think of to try and rectify
  • Factory reset via GUI

  • Factory reset via reset button

  • .rst firmware rather than .all

  • All available firmwares between 3.9.3 and 3.9.6.2

  • Draytek Firmware update utility

Absolutely nothing made any difference
- GUI upgrade fails with the same message
- Utility upgrade says it was successful but router remains on 3.9.3

Can anyone suggest anything I've missed?
Thanks

Thanks for that, I had already tried that numerous times
End result: router reboots afterwards repeatedly which triggers firmware recovery

Then I think the only option for you is to contact support.

Alternatively, rather than upgrading to the latest, you could try upgrading to the next version up to see if this has any effects.

Anyone any idea how to get hold of support?
I've emailed twice but had not response
And called 0345 527 7864 4 times, pressed #2 then #1 for support on routers
Then listened to cheesy lift music for 20 mins until it cuts me off

Oh and I'd already covered that suggestion as well 8) but thanks
