Quoted firewall throughput was created by nieldm
This is a bit if a dufus question but I am not a network tech and would like to understand.
I am using a 2926, which has a quoted firewall throughput of 400Mb/s. Given that I just put in a 500Mb/s BT FTTP connection, I was assuming I would be throttled at 400 by the router, but it seems not; when I connect via ethernet to the router and run a speedtest I am getting the full line speed.
I was thinking of upgrading to a 2866 but if I don't need to then I won't. Am I missing something, misunderstanding what the firewall throughput means or both?

Draytek's current Routers seem to be capable of far higher speeds than they claim ... this definitely wasn't the case in the past, but has been noted with the 2862 and 2762

Very interesting.
Anything to do with marketing? Same product but different in terms of model number.

Interesting indeed. I almost pulled the trigger on a 2866 but asked Broadbandbuyer the question too; one of the sales support guys called me and said that it does indeed seem to be the case that the recent firmwares have made the throughput speeds a little redundant. To his credit he agreed it wasn't worth me upgrading.
Wonder where they will max out; anyone with a 1gb line and an older Draytek?
