Can 2762 handle 900/110? was created by cactus
Hi, my 2762 is currently on a 300/30 fibre connection - get full speeds.
Coming to the end of contract and have the option to switch to a 900/110, will the 2762 be able to handle this or will I need a new router? (vaguely remember reading the 2762 topped out at 600)
cheers

This question has been asked before.

See: https://forum.draytek.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=23802&p=97593

It wasn't answered satisfactorily - as least as far as I'm concerned ...

Eeek! :o ... that makes Starlink seem cheap

I did find some FTTP, on the outskirts of the village, while out for a walk during lockdown. It emerges from a manhole and is then strung between poles. Eventually, I came across a man, to whose property there was an actual connection. He said "someone" had knocked on his door and said "sign here" and this was the result!

(He reckoned the internet was absolutely fine before this - I know for a fact it wasn't; it was one of the properties we'd considered before we moved to the area- but I dismissed it out of hand, due to the 1.5Mbs ADSL. If only I'd known... )

It's done through a BT Community Fibre Partnership. The key if you are exploring this is to have as many homes as possible on the application. A large percentage of the cost is at the exchange, so adding more homes generally brings the cost per home down and hence makes it more likely to cost-in using available funding.

Hardware Acceleration seems key. My old 2860 got very close to gigabit with HWA enabled and Firewall disabled + more.

My 2865 (which is advertised to have the horsepower to cope with a symmetrical gigabit connection on WAN2) can also only achieve those speeds with HW Acceleration on.......but unlike older Vigors, there is now no compromise on the features with HWA enabled. Tools like Traffic Graph, Data Flow Monitor etc all work just fine with HWA enabled now and some IPSec VPN configuration are also accelerated now (max 200mb/s without in my experience).

Does make me wonder why its not just forced on by default. Without it enabled, the CPU becomes contented.
