Recently, our Vigor 2860 stopped talking to the internet and died suddenly. A DrayTek engineer "dialled-in" and confirmed it. It didn't have VigorCare, so was replaced with a Vigor 2927 with VigorCare.
Our needs aren't great. All we want is a reliable broadband service to enable us to work from home. We concluded that a dual WAN setup was the answer. The 2860 was set up with Plusnet and Virgin Media, switched on and did its job. We had worry-free broadband.
Our employers supply the laptops/tablets/headsets etc and look after the ITC. We were just expected to provide the home broadband.
The 2927 was delivered within 24hr of ordering it and we just set up the two WANs (and nothing else) to get us up and running again quickly within an hour. All seems okay. Looking at the dashboard, we could see that both ISP's were doing their bit.
The reason for this post is that apart from setting up the two WANs, should we be looking at any other settings on the 2927, or will the out of the box default settings provide us a secure environment?
