Vigor 2865ac firmware was created by dodghz
Hi there,
I've just bought and setup a new Vigor 2865ac router at a UK site which came with 4.2.0.1_MDM2 firmware.
https://www.draytek.co.uk/support/downloads/vigor-2865
shows no firmware updates
https://www.draytek.com/support/latest-firmwares/
does
Q1 - Does anyone know if I should always just check the .com site for updates?
Also, reading the 'Different Annex Type and Modem Codes?' section of
https://www.draytek.com/support/knowledge-base/4301
it mentions "For most areas, usually, the STD (Standard) version would work". However, reading the 'File and modem code section of'
https://www.draytek.com.tw/ftp/Vigor2865/Firmware/v4.2.2/DrayTek_Vigor2865_V4.2.2_03release-note.pdf
it mentions that "Vigor2865_v4.2.2_MDM2.zip" is recommended for the UK.
Q2 - Does anyone know if there's a disadvantage in applying STD versions versus MDM2 versions of firmware updates?
Many thanks in advance for any help.

If you're in the UK, then usually no, as it says that clearly on their website that firmware version for the UK is for BT lines.
You can experiment with other firmware versions and modem codes, but they can result in instability.

BT firmware is the one which has specific requirements mandated by Openreach.
