Vigor 2820n Firmware with wireless was created by bobadt
Hi,
I have a 2820n (which I got from a friend).
There is/was no WLAN item in the gui.
It was Firmware version 3.3.9 when I got it
System status give model name as "Vigor2820" - notice no "n"
So I upgraded to Firmware version 3.7.3 thinking that might solve the issue as the files are listed as covering 2820n
"Applicable ModelsVigor2820, Vigor2820n, Vigor2820Vn, Vigor2820Vsn"
got it here:https://www.draytek.co.uk/support/downloads/legacy-products/legacy-router/vigor-2820
(I used the .rst file)
Still no WLAN and still model given as "Vigor2820" - no "n"

...and it definitely is an "n" :?: (instantly identifiable by the rear, external aerials!)
ISTR that the Wifi module is removeable on the 2820 (one of those cards that laptops use, who name escapes me at the moment:? ). Is it present ? (Is it "re-seatable"?)
(or is my memory playing tricks?)
The firmware is almost certainly failing to get a response from the Wifi section and assuming that it's the non-wifi version ...

Cheers hornbyp,
definitely an "n" : all the aerials and external badging.
I'll have to pull it apart later: had the fascia off (no easy feat) and can see a card (?) with wires to the aerials but getting at the internals (to check seating etc) involves (at least) pulling off the glued-on rubber feet to get at 4 screws.....

Undoing the 4 screws under the rubber feet is a darn site easier than removing the fascia.....
I have a 2860n-plus which is destined for the dump (we have to make appointments now). The wireless card in it is an "Alpha WMC-ND07D" It has two wires, one goes to the centre aerial and the other goes to the motherboard, from where two adjacent wires go to the two outer aerials.
Is that the same as the one in yours?

Yip ! in hindsight, removing the feet first is definitely the way to go....
So, all sorted, tested and mobile connected.
The card was an Alpha W?? N07 ( possibly WMN N07, can't remember exactly and it's all reassembled ).
Kudos to hornbyp: the card WAS unseated and after re-seating it the firmware picked it up, displayed the correct model in the GUI and provided a WLAN menu item.
Cheers !
