802.1x to block unused 2862 LAN ports was created by Andrew
It's a shame the UI does not allow unused LAN ports to be blocked (you can do it from Telnet).
If I configure 802.1x on the unused Ethernet LAN ports will this have the same effect as blocking the port? I'm assuming the client device has not been configured to authenticate.

I tried this today on a new router and it does appear to block access in the ports set to 802.1x.

Check the [System Maintenance] > [Port Control] menu, that has a LAN ports section to turn them on&off through the GUI.
