Bandwith greater than single LACP link for packet stream!? was created by eveares
I had some enterprise network training today from the vendor of network switches we use at my work place. (Enterprise level gear.)
I was taught that the bandwidth for a given packet stream is restricted to the speed of one link in the 802.3ad LAG. i.e: For example, for a 2 Gbps LAG that is a combination of two 1 Gbps ports, one flow of traffic (packet stream) can only ever reach a maximum throughput of 1 Gbps.
Is this true for Draytek switches to?
Regards: Elliott.

Hello
This is true for any switch;) This is normal, your packet stream uses only one link out of the available ones of the LAG group. So if your interfaces are 1Gbps, you cannot go beyond 1Gbps. If you have 2 ports in a LAG, theoretically (especially if configured with IP and MAC balancing), you can have 2 streams at the same time at 1Gbps each
This is true for any switch

Well, if all the other ports are 1Gb, how would you ever expect to get >1Gb (per link) across the 2Gb trunk ?
i.e. if you add an extra lane to the motorway, each van can still carry the same amount of goods
but you can carry more vans.
(or did I misunderstand).
