So all you should need to do is connect and plug in.
What are the lights doing on the Vigor 130 when connected to your ASUS ?

Act steady flashing
Lan and DSL solid with occasional flash on Lan.
Tried another factory reset with staged power on of the rest of the network this morning, and the Asus is still not talking to the modem. The DM200 works perfectly in modem only mode so I'm minded to return the Vigor and worry about being ready for vectoring if and when we get it. Unless anyone can come up with a light bulb moment!

Hmm, the ACT light should be pulsing.
Looking around the forum there have been a number of these lately.
You could try reflashing the firmware using the TFTP method :
Visit >>https://www.draytek.co.uk/support/downloads/software
Download >> Firmware Upgrade Utility V.3.6.7 (Windows) Download
Flash using that tool and the TFTP system in the modems GUI. (Firmware upgrade page)
You could also call support/put in a ticket.
I use the Vigor 130 connected to an ASUS AC3200 , works like a charm and I can call the stats from both devices in a browser.

What do you mean? Is the ASUS set up for PPPoE ?
(I don't have one so don't know the settings for that)

The easy way to check whether the modem is working is by creating a ppoe connection on your PC. If it works then the setting is incorrect on router or there's a compatibility issue.
Oh one more thing for some reason with the latest firmware the flashing via the web browser may not work. I ended up with one bricked 130 because of this. Even recovery method wouldn't work. The replacement wouldn't flash via windows either via pc's at work or at home. Luckily it didn't get bricked just timed out and didn't upload the firmware. However I can flash via my mac without any issues.
