I think I understand what happened - one of the early 2862 firmware versions wasn't able to auto detect between ADSL2+ and VDSL2 correctly - this can be fixed by going to [WAN] > [General Setup] > [WAN1] and setting the DSL Mode to ADSL Only. Updating the firmware also resolves the issue, sorry that it caused a problem for you.

Sounds like the OP may need to do a firmware update too!
