Is my 2850 about to die? was created by jm_paulin
Hi,
I got 2850 a good 5 years ago, and for the first time this morning, I had no Internet. Check the provider and everything was fine. I rebooted the Router and after multiple reboot, it finally sync, just to disconnect about 1 hour later. I could not even reach the WebUI.
I put it on rest (power off) for a while and it finally got back to life.
What are the first signs a router is about to die?
Thanks
JM

Like admin says if the power supply is failing it can exhibit symptoms like that. Basically the sync process is quite power intensive and then if you start hitting the web GUI which will cause a lot of CPU usage that can cause it to start playing up too.
You can get power supplies pretty cheap so it is worth a punt, or you could use it as an excuse to upgrade to a 2862!

Yup. I as cannot afford to not have a working internet, I went for the 2862 (lame excuse, I know). Bonus points is the sync speed jumped from 62 to 78 Mbps, and I got IPv6 fully working.
