Vigor 130 compatible with Utility Warehouse service? was created by mickyluv
I have a Utility Warehouse ADSL2+ standard broadband provision.
The original Technicolor router/modem has gone bad.
I have a Linksys WRT1900ACS router that I'd prefer to use, along with a suitable modem.
The Draytek Vigor 130 ADSL/VDSL modem looks like a good quality choice.
I see that most of the Amazon reviewers of this modem are BT Infinity users, or use other BT services.
There' are also many references to Apple devices and services in the reviews.
I've read that Utility Warehouse sometimes change their Internet provider but as far as I know their current provider is TalkTalk.
Would the Vigor 130 ADSL/VDSL modem be a suitable choice, given this combination of factors?
Any advice on this would be most appreciated.
Mike

There is no reason to think that the 130 won't work with your BB service from UW.
I'm using one on Sky Fibre coupled with a 2925 (which is more a pain in the arse due to Sky's less than traditional authentication mechanisms). The 130 configuration is pretty much out of the out of the box, you do all the config on the router.
Even UW's help site says you can use your own equipment:

You should have no problem using the Vigor130 , it works with any ADSL2+ service . I used it on ADSL2 LLU and also BT supplied services.
Mine is now running on VDSL2 FTTC and I have never needed to change a setting.
The Vigor 130 is specifically designed for the UK market.

Thanks to mbames and AdrianH54 for your reassuring advice.
I'll now go ahead and purchase the Vigor 130 modem.
