2820 wifi drops when repeater is unplugged was created by softek
Hi,
Using a 2820vn as the "main" unit, with a second 2820vn acting as a repeater.
All is setup following Draytek KB's, and works fine, BUT if the second unit is turned off / unplugged, the wifi totally disappears, no wifi clients can see / connect to the main unit - even after reboot etc.
The main unit is up, and wired connections (DHCP and fixed IP) still work fine.
Wifi will not come up again until I disable "repeater" mode on the main unit & restart it.
Any ideas why?
thx

Just to add; both units were totally clean, fresh new installs recently, are running the latest available firmware, and are doing the bare minimum of config / services......

Why is the Main unit in Repeater mode?
I would set the main unit with a normal WiFi configuration and ensure that units can connect to it and then set the second unit to act as the repeater?

If possible run a cable between them then just set the same SSID and passphrase on both, disable DHCP on the second one, and select different wireless channels (usually 1 and 6 or 6 and 11).
