Draytek 2830 crashing issue was created by ms1987
Hi all,
I have an unusual issue with a Draytek 2830 router. Every week, mainly Sundays at around 01:00am the router crashes and requires a reboot.
What has happened so far:
- Customer has moved office (new line and internet connection)
- Changed the Draytek router for another one
- Upgraded firmware to the latest version
- Replaced the network switch
- SEG (uk Draytek partner) have looked at the issue and are stumped
- Nothing in systlogs to indicate issue
- Ran constant ping internally and externally and the router becomes unresponsive at exactly the same time in the ping logs
- Internet connection doesn't resume until router is restarted
The customer has an offsite backup going on, the issue doesn't seem to occur when this is unplugged but I cannot 100% verify this as I haven't been able to leave it for 2-3 weeks.
Any thoughts? My colleague thought the router might be maxing out on it's capabilities? We have 15-20 customers with the same hardware and no issues like this.

Maxing out wouldn't be so reliably "1am on Sunday" IMHO - the offsite backup seems to be your only positive clue there so I'd investigate that further.
