Rules/Filters on 2860 (et al) was created by alijcam
Hi All,
I have been setting up 'Turn-The-Kids-Internet-off' rules on my 2860.
After much experimentation, I can now control all 9 devices (phones, laptops, XBoxes) individually. Haha! The power!
However, in the process, I found that the only thing that would work are OUTBOUND filters (ie LAN/DMZ/RT/VPN -> WAN).
I could just not get ANY INBOUND (data) filters to work at all. Even Source = Any, Destination = Any, Service = Any, Block Immediately had no discernible effect on any traffic at all.
Am I missing something as far as incoming filters are concerned?
Thanks

Why do you need inbound too? i.e. if they can't send out to request data,
it ain't coming back
it ain't coming back

Questioning a customer why he/she wants to do something is not a respectful response or defence to a (major) feature that doesn't work. The fault itself needs to be addressed. Outbound filters also don't do the job properly. If a user starts a session during 'allowed' time, that session will continue long after the filter kicks in at the scheduled time to supposedly block communication. For instance, a Minecraft session will continue uninterrupted when a block rule kicks in (the "Clear sessions when schedule on" setting makes no difference).
