Vigor 2830n drops off when LAN cable is connected was created by lee.fowler
Hi all
I have a client with a vigor 2830n single band.
Spoke to draytek and updated to the latest firmware
current setup is..
USB - Empty
WAN2 - Infinity
DSL - Empty
4 - Vodafone Extender
3 - Empty
2 - Empty
LAN1 - Empty
When I plug the cable into the LAN1 port and connect it to the HP Switch, the Draytek loses everything (not down the back of the sofa)
1) the external IP that I use to connect drops off (as im 200miles from this site)
2) the router kept rebooting (pre firmware update)
3) all users can connect to the wifi and authenticate with AD
Any advice welcome

I would try connecting a different switch, beg or borrow a different switch.
Not very conclusive or scientific but if a different switch causes the same problem then you could argue that the problem is within the router. If the problem stops or doesn't happen using a different switch then one could argue that it's the HP switch that's causing the problem.
If you can beg, borrow or steel a second switch then for the short amount of time this takes it has to be worth giving it a go.
Is it a faulty / damaged cable or have mains electrical cables been installed alongside this Ethernet cable over a distance longer than a few metres. Crossover interference.

Might be faulty or a power supply issue, so like the other reply, you will
need a process of elimination.
Also, backup the config and do a factory reset (without restoring), then see if it
happens on plain factory settings.
