Rather than buying a new router I wondered if one of the LAN ports could be turned into a WAN port on my Vigor2830n

We had an ADSL line and cable modem installed but the ADSL line is about to be changed into second cable Modem line.

No sorry ... you will need a 2912, 2920, 2925 but i think the 2925 has higher throughput, about 200-300 mbps so it may be better, so check before you get any
