Vigor 2860n BT Infinity http slow was created by hfidraytek
Hi
We recently installed BT Infinity with speeds of 28Mbps down and 3.5 Mbps up.
We swapped the BT hub for a new Vigor 2860n. When initially viewing web pages the speeds are fine i.e. same as with the BT hub and consistent but after a few clicks pages start to take ages to load.
Any suggestions or similar experience would be appreciated.
Paul

It could be many reasons, here i remember few
dns issue
Lan>General setup>details page set manually your isp one
On exit tick the small box ... Force router to use "DNS server IP address"
it could be firmware issue ... latest is 3.7.8
also set the correct MTU (wan>Internet access MTU 1492
If the issue is via wifi try turn the antennas 45 degree (left/right) .. try different channel
also try via cable
browser issue
high errors in your connection (check the internet statistics

Likely the connection drops in between visiting sites.
Check the VDSL uptime against router uptime on status page.
Seems only 3.7.8 STD (i.e. not VECTOR) is stable with some DSLAM equipment.
DNS unlikely if website loads fine first time round, since DNS is cached by both computer and Vigor, so second time will be no external lookup.

Thanks for the replies.
We managed to resolve this. Using this forum postinghttp://forums.hexus.net/networking-broadband/277073-using-your-own-router-bt-infinity-help-draytek-2820-please.html
When we changed Wan Port 1 to 1/2 duplex it now works perfectly! All pages now load instantly as per the 26Mbps download speed.
The firmware we are running is 3.7.8 with DSL Version 567517_A/B/C HW: A

oh thanks, that is strange, my 2850 & 2830 & 2760 will not allow me to change it (wan 1 >general setup) ... did you set it according to line speed?

clicking the middle icon top right gives you a telnet console, entering "vdsl status" will tell you how many time the link has gone down since the router last rebooted
