Configure Vigor 2860n as dumb modem (Modem Only) was created by aaron-
Hi folks,
Recently a Vogor 2860n was purchased here to replace a failing device that handled basic modem functions on our ADSL line.
I was wondering if it is possible to configure the 2860n as a dumb modem ie, disable all other features.
The reason for this is that we have other devices that handle all the other duties such as a ZyXel USG20.
I gave the 2860n a test run a week or so ago, all the connections worked fine, got decent speeds, everyone could connect to the internet. The only problem was that the VPN connections to the USG20 were blocked despite diabling the firewall etc on the 2860n.
After removing the 2860n and using a temporary device the VPN connections worked again so it seems that some feature on the 2860n is blocking the incoming connections.
Seeings as we only really need it to handle modem duties, is there a way to do this?
Thanks in advance.

You could try setting the DMZ if you have not done so, and turn off all the firewall functions.

If the other router (zyxel) does all the rest then you can try
If your isp is using PPPoA/PPPoE then see this post

If your isp using MPOA then go at MPoA and just enable the bridge mode tab
ot leave it as it & at the 2860 just turn off dhcp, wifi, dmz, port forward, firewall, upnp etc (apart the wan section)
