2860 ADSL code was created by adriandaz
Hi, I have just upgraded from a 2830 to a 2860. The line stats now show a lower SNR by about 3DB and higher attenuation by about 2DB which is resulting in disconnections.
I have tried both the user selectable modem codes of 552011 and 544401 but both appear to be the same.
Any way of getting the 232201 code back from the 2830?
thanks,
Adrian.

I don't think so, the 2830 / 2860 has different adsl chipsets
You can try the vector firmware from here
ftp://ftp.draytek.com/Vigor2860/v3.7.4.3/
which has another 2 different modem codes & if the telnet command works can try something similar here (but use the adsl command instead of the vdsl)

If you have disconnection don't use mines values for the snr

Hi, tried the vector firmware, seemed to lower the attenuation by 1, however when I configured a PPPoA connection the router kept rebooting each time it just about synced the line.
Not impressed with the router for ADSL purposes so far.

with the vector firmware once you plug in the splitter below (not the normal filters) if you have one to try, should be better

Alternative with the vector ... if your isp let you, try PPPoE, llc snap (vpi/vci same as pppoa) if will synchronize (nothing to lose) ... instead of PPPoA vc mux
Other way try with the STD firmware & set higher the snr via telnet (the grey button top right that looks like equaliser) , example adsl snr 30 ... 30 should set up the snr by 3 db, which should help the line stay more stable

Hi again, thanks for the advice so far.
It appears the profile was incorrectly at the ISP side, so that has now been fixed and I have a stable 16-17mbit connection using the latest firmware.
The ISP enforces a 9db SNR to provide most people with a stable service and it is possible to have interleave turned on or off, so I have opted to have it off. There are no fixed speed profiles, just sync at whatever the SNR allows.
I use syslog to keep a track of the line stats and bandwidth used and the router reboots and stability problems occured when syslog was abled with the "firewall log" option enabled, I don't need this option so just disabled it and made Draytek support aware that having the option on causes router instability.
I have just installed v2860_r41111_001 beta firmware to allow SNR tweaking, so far with good results as I am able to take the SNR down to 3/4db and get the connection from 17mbit to 20mbit8) but just keeping an eye on the errors and stability so I can adjust it accordingly,
