Thanks everyone. SEC have confirmed the 2860Vn won't be available until October/November
I've been consciously monitoring what I've been doing over the last couple of days, and I've come around to thinking that my VPN use isn't quite as heavy as I though it was. I'm regularly sending stuff over the line (mainly SQL queries/results and the odd small file), but it's nothing that really needs dozens of megabytes of constant throughput. My 2820Vn does a fine job as a S2S VPN endpoint, as well as handling my VoIP connection and acting as the family gateway to the internet, which is why the 2860Vn seems the perfect box to me.
That sounds like a plan. I was worried the 2820 might be a constraint, but if I get anywhere near 70Mb+ down and 15Mb+ up that'll do me nicely until the 2860 arrives - anything is better than the 700Kb/s I'm getting upstream just now
If you are a heavy VPN user then wouldn't you want a 2960 or even 3900 as the VPN pas through is much higher with themsicon wrote:

So, my advice would be, get your FTTC installed, use 2820, then upgrade at your leisure.jedi98 wrote:

No-one has sold a Vigor2860Vn; it hasn't gone into production yet. It should be
available by the end of the year according to the info I was given.

Jusr ordered mine from Transparent-uk as they have them in stock, and a bit cheaper than SEG.

Just in case anyone's in the same boat, I can confirm that the good old 2820Vn runs just fine in PPPoE mode when connected to the BT VDSL modem. I'm getting 75.5Mb/s downstream and 16.5Mb/s upstream. There's no noticeable difference when using the ISP-supplied "Technicolor" router.
I'll probably still invest in a 2860Vn when they appear, but for now the 2820 lives on!

Is there any update to a UK release date for the 2860Vn?
