AP700 universal repeater to AP800 was created by philguk
I've been using an AP800 access point for some time with no trouble

I have one or two dead/slow patches in the house and bought an AP700 to act as a repeater

But try as I might I cannot get the AP700 to connect to the AP800

I can connect to the AP700 (via cable, wireless doesn't work as the AP700 is not a DHCP server)

I have configured it as a Universal Repeater, with a different SSID to the AP800

I've tried the SAME channel as the AP800 and a DIFFERENT channel - doesn't seem to make any difference

I have MAC address filtering on the AP800, and I have added the AP700 MAC address to the list (butu even if I turn off MAC filtering, the AP700 still doesn't connect)

Tonight, just for a change, when I do a Wireless Site Survey on the AP700, it does NOT detect the AP800 SSID at all! (it did yesterday)

I'm obviously doing something very stupid - surely this ought to just "work"!

Oh, and I have ennsured that the AP700 and AP800 are on the same subnet (192.168.0.x) and the AP700 has a hard coded IP address that is reserved in the AP800 IP address list

And I have followed (I think) all the steps in the AP700 manual that are relevant

Someone please show me where I am going wrong :(

Thanks

Phil G

this should help
http://www.draytek.com/index.php?option=com_k2&view=item&id=2777:ap800-how-to-use-universal-repeater-mode&Itemid=293&lang=en

The 2830 would be the AP800 in your case and the AP700 will repeats the network from that with its OWN SSID

This is exactly what I am trying to do, but I don't understand why most of the time the AP700 doesn't see the AP800 SSID when I do a scan :(

Does it not even find it if there a re near to each other?

IMO they don't work particularly well as repeaters

It seems not - the AP800 signal is pretty strong where I've been testing

I bet you'll suggest that I ought to have bought another AP800, but that seemed overkill just to use as a repeater. The AP700 seemed ideal :(
