Load Balancing Question was created by ghostrocket
Hi all

Sorry if the question has been answered but I couldn't find a definite answer mine is quite general.

Basically we have a 2850n and a Vigor 120 ADSL modem with one ISP in WAN1 and another in WAN2

On each WAN in WAN - GENERAL SETUP - WAN1/2 I have the load balance box ticked and active mode set to always on

WAN - GENERAL SETUP - LOAD BALANCE MODE is set to auto weight

Is this all I need to have a basic load balancing setup so we get the best of speeds and fail over?

Thanks

Yes correct and also you need enable both connections
Also if you go at WAN >> Load-Balance Policy then if you tick wan 1 or wan 2 it will give continuously priority first to the ticked connection with out setting any special load balance polices

Thanks Babis

Yes both are enabled.

With regards to ticking a wan connection in the load balance policy if that gives priority doesnt that negate a load balance in essence
As I assume that means all traffic goes down the selected wan ???

Sorry for the questions

Correct, all traffic will go to the selected wan ... personal i have it at load balance and ticking the specific wan when i need.
Example i have (had because is going off soon) at wan 2 a Virgin cable connection (faster than my other adsl line) ... when i want to upload at youtube, i tick wan 2 and all traffic going there, when i finish i unticked ... i know there are policies to set (never tried) but is so simple to swap connections if is helpful and in your case
