Vigor 2820 with Fibre was created by footix2
How do we configure the router to work with a talk talk router on Wan 2.

We have a Lan to Lan VPN alos on this router, is there any issue around this?

WAN2 is fine with another router; you enable WAN2 and set it to static/dynamic IP (not PPPoE or other)
then it should connect. The VPN might be a problem if you're using IPSEC with an SA.. but PPTP
should get through okay. The Vigor 2820 though is quite old so may not be good enough for the latest FTTC/VDSL
throughput. A Vigor 2850 may be suitable to replace both boxes.

Thanks for the advice.

I had it set to PPPoE, so will change that.

You see the 2820 is not good enough for the latest throughput, does that mean it will work, but at a reduced performance?

I got this working. Wan 2 with automatic IP address and the whole shebang came back up. IPSec seemed to work fine for the Lan to Lan VPN ( so far). We use minimal traffic on the L2L anyway (email and a bit of remote desktop).

Summarising my experience and some research around this and other discussion boards: the 2820 has a max throughput of around 50MB/s (I gather the limitation is in the firewall).

I'm getting (measured by the speed test on ThinkBroadband) the low-to-mid-40's download and about 18 upload. That's on a Mac connected to the router via Ethernet over Powerline - I'd expect a bit better if I connected direct to the router, but I haven't tried it yet (only had fibre a couple of weeks and been busy). Allowing for some Powerline degradation, I'm satisfied that that's about the best I'll get from the 2820.

According to the BT line checker, I could get up to 67 download and 20 upload.

If it matters, I'm on firmware 3.3.7.4 232201. I tried a couple of other variants, but didn't see a significant difference.

Hope that helps
