Confirm 2830 Multiple Subnet abilities. was created by newsco67
Hi,
before I start, sorry if this has been answered but I have searched and found a couple of postings that seem to confirm but before I buy a 2830 to replace our 2800 I want to clarify.

This is my scenario:
We have a business with a small business server that is our backbone for dhcp/ dns etc, we regularly have to setup New Servers for other businesses and I need both to access the internet without the DHCP/ DNS's conflicting so have looked into multip subnets with Draytek routers.

So, I want our network to plug into one port on the 2830 with say 10.0.8.2.x and be able to access the internet and ports be routed the server as they currently are for smtp etc.

I then want to plug in the New system being setup to another port on the 2830 on say 192.168.10.x and be able to accesss the internet for updates etc but the 2 networks (subnets) must not be able to talk to each other so there are no conflicts with services.

I understand you can configure a 2830 to do this, is this so?

Thanks
John

Yes it is, you can have upto 4 "inside" subnets on the 2830
