Is it possible to restrict Internet access by IP address, to certain periods during the day.

Basically, I want to turn off Internet access for my children after (say) 9pm, until 9am the next morning.

If the 2820 won't do it, is there a newer / similar model that will?

It is possible to set this up using the 2820 with a mixture of firewall rules and schedules.

You'll find the schedule under "Applications" and then Schedule - set the times you want the schedule to apply - you can ignore action and idle timeout

Then go to Firewall, Filter Setup, Default Data Filter

Create a new rule using the IP of the device you want o block to any destination and then change the filter to Block Immediately

Enter the schedule you created at the top and save it.

that should be about it - remember that this is easily bypassed by changing IP address.

I haven't got a 2820 in-front of me, so written this off the cuff. Hopefully it's about right - Good luck!

OK, that sounds like a plan, I will give it a go.

At the moment, IP addresses are allocated by DHCP but I can switch to static IP addresses. I assume I could then grant Internet access to a defined set of IP addresses? hence getting round the problem of changing IP address.
