Vigor 120 firmware was created by jmann
Hello,

I have the following product:

Code:
> sys version Router Model: Vigor120 v2 Version: 3.2.6 English Profile version: 3.0.0 Status: 1 (0x273d3001) Router IP: 192.168.2.1 Netmask: 255.255.255.0 Firmware Build Date/Time: May 4 2011 18:33:00 Revision: 27022 v120 ADSL Firmware Version: 321311_A Annex A

I'm an O2 LLU customer and I've noticed that the Vigor 120 connects at slightly slower speeds than other routers I've used, including the O2 Wireless Box IV and a NetGear DGN2200. I usually get over 19Mbps DS from those, while the Vigor 120 connects at around 17.8Mbps:

Code:
> adsl status --------------------------- ATU-R Info (hw: annex A, f/w: annex A) ----------- DSL Modulation : G.992.5 annexM State : SHOWTIME DS Actual Rate : 17890356 bps US Actual Rate : 2457316 bps DS Attainable Rate : 17912000 bps US Attainable Rate : 2457000 bps DS Path Mode : Interleave US Path Mode : Interleave DS Interleave Depth : 160 US Interleave Depth : 1 NE Current Attenuation : 13 dB Cur SNR Margin : 6 dB DS actual PSD : 16. 4 dB US actual PSD : 12. 8 dB ADSL Firmware Version : 321311_A -------------------------------- ATU-C Info --------------------------------- Far Current Attenuation : 1 dB Far SNR Margin : 6 dB CO ITU Version[0] : 00004244 CO ITU Version[1] : 0000434d DSLAM CHIPSET VENDOR : < BDCM >

I'm wondering if this has something to do with the fact that O2's LLU DSLAMs use Broadcom chipsets and so do the two routers I've tried, resulting in better interoperability.

I'm aware that there are multiple firmware images available for the Vigor 120 with different modem codes. Would any of these provide better interoperability and connection speeds to a Broadcom DSLAM?

I have raised this with Draytek in the past as one of our ISPs (Timico) also say that the chipsets are not "As compatible" as other modems.
Draytek say there is no issue but quite clearly there is. IN the end I just went through every firmware until I got the best connection.
Its not just the 120s either, it happens on the 2830s in some places too

Is the compability of the chipset between the draytek and dslam/exchange
This apply to all draytek modems and any other brand model
The only you can do if you have time to find a firmware with different modem code that may be more better with the current exchange but you may not win much
