Vigor 2820 and FTTC (Via BT) was created by tsumaru
Hi All

I'm a very happy chap today as I just had my line switched from ADSL to VDSL2.

BT Installed a Huawei EchoLife HG612 Modem (Which appears to be in a locked down state). This is connected to WAN2 on my 2820 and that is configured for PPPoE and all seems to be working!

I have noticed however that I average about 44-50Mb/s Down and 7-8Mb/s Upload. I cant complain about that as its much better than I did have. My one observation so far though, If I take the 2820 out of the equation and connect up the HG612 directly to my PC and use Windows' built in PPPoE Dialer, i get 50-55Mb/s Down and 15-17Mb/s Up.

Does anyone have any ideas why the 2820 seems to lower performance when its still using the same Modem to connect? It does appear to be a bottleneck on the Vigor.

Firmware 3.3.5.2_232201_A (Not using 3.3.7 as that has a bug with SNMP Traffic data)

I think you will find that the 2820 has a 50 MHz firewall so if you are getting 50MHz then that is good going.
Make certain that DoS and QOS are switched off as well as they do afftect throughput.
Have you tried the latest firmware 3.3.7.3 as I believe the bug with SNMP Traffic data has now been fixed?

I think if you want full throughput then you will need to replace your 2820 with a later model, say a 2830.
