Hi,

I've just bought and new 2850n from BBB.co.uk and am setting it up for the first time with my 80/20 BT Infinity connection.

I've noticing that every 5-10mins, there is a clicking or switching sound coming from inside the unit roughly around where you plug in the power cord. It sounds like a mechanical switch.

Is this normal?

Are you sure its a 2850n and not a 2850Vn. The Vn units have relays in them for switching phones.

100% positive - its the 2850n :) .....but it does sound like a relay.

Hi,

I'm having the same problem with a 2850n I just bought.

Did you find a solution? It's very annoying.

Thanks

Yes, actually I did. I'm pleased to say its not a fault.

Its the ADSL / VDSL port switching between the 2 because its set to Auto. To disable, turn off Auto detect on WAN1 and hardcode to either ADSL or VDSL.

WAN->General Setup->WAN1->DSL Mode pull down box.
