changing 2820n homepage ip was created by redeye76
hello,

I'm trying to set up my 2820n as a wireless repeater so the first thing i'm trying to do is change the homepage ip from 192.168.1.1 to something that is not used in my dhcp pool (in this case 192.168.1.20) but no luck. everytime i change the ip i get the warning message and the router reboots but the new ip doesn't work. tried old and 2nd ip address but no joy, only a factory reset allows me to use 192.168.1.1.

Tried different ip addreses but no joy, anything other than 192.168.1.1 doesn't work
Any suggestions?
using fw 3.3.4.1

thanks for reading

Where are you trying to change it?

Should be:
LAN -> General Setup
1st IP address: 192.168.1.20
1st Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0

If you can not connect to it after you change it surely that suggest that it has worked - albeit that you can not connect to it.

When you say wireless repeater - what else do you have on the network? How is everything else connected?

Yep thats where i changed it.

I see what you are saying but Why am i unable to to connect to it if enter the new ip address in my browser just like i do with 192.168.1.1? It's just like like for like isn't it? Seems odd to have an option which makes the router uncongifurable

At the moment i'm just trying to set up the 2820n on a laptop (connected by ethernet). Once i've made the necessary changes i plan to wds with billion 7800n. the billion has assigned 192.168.1.1 to another pc so i wish to move the 2820n homepage ip to a not in use ip then switch off dhcp altogether on the 2820n so the billion assigns all ip's on the network.
