Vlan & DHCP was created by danfloun
I've got a few questions regarding vlans on the 2710n.

1. If I enable separate vlans for each port, is the dhcp server configurable to hand out different subnets to each vlan?

2. If I do the above, do wlan clients get placed in a vlan?

3. Is the 2710n configurable to pass certain packet data to each vlan (bridging if you like)? Seems a very complicated interface this vigor router.

I should say that I'm presently running a Dell Powerconnect layer 2 switch which is tagging packets for 2 vlans and a DD-WRT'd WRT54G router set up to control the traffic & vlans at the other end.

Thanks all for any input on this.

Danny

They are Layer 2, not layer 3 VLANs.... so none of the above. They islote the lan ports, not IP subnets.

Thanks but that confuses me.
If the ports are seperated from one another, what stops me running differnet subnets on each? For instance connecting a 3rd party dhcp server to serve 2 ports for instance?

As the subnets are isolated, you'd need a separate DHCP server on each VLAN and you'd have to disable the Draytek one or it will respond to DHCP requests on all the VLAN's.

2900Gi/v2.5.6; 2900/v2.5.6

Hi,

But will vlans still have internet access and is it possible to bridge vlans for various traffic?
