wireless very slow was created by garyi
Hi there, I have fixed most of my teething trobles with my new 2080vn

the last issue is wireless speed. Its appauling. I only use macs. I only have one thing that uses wireless my macbook which is N.

The draytek has replaced an airport extreme which died, on that I got very good speeds, 1 gig files couple of minutes sort of thing.

On this draytek I get about a three quarters megs a second so a 30 meg file takes nearly a minute. This is really slow.

I have fiddled with settings, set it to 'green field' and told it only to broadcast on N, but its still really bad. The mac shows full five bars of reception.

Any ideas on this one?

Although I am probably talking to myself here I did a few experiments.

1 900 meg file copied from an ethernet connected mac to my wireless macbook, just under 30 minutes to copy.

Booted the same macbook into windows and transferred the same file, 6 minutes!

Whats all that about then? As I had no issues with my draytek vigor and airport extreme I am seriously pointing the finger at this 2080Vn.

Anyone else using macs with theirs?

Hi mate,

May be nothing but I've had some trouble with my wireless setup and I fixed it by setting my laptop to only do 802.11b/g (not 802.11n).

I know this won't improve speed, but it certainly improved connectivity for me.

Cheers Ian
