Vigor 2762 - Plusnet ADSL2+ - Syncing issues was created by ctluk
Hi,
I've installed a number of DrayTek's over the years but this one has me stumped, I have raised a support call but its taking a while and I need to get this resolved asap, hence reaching out to the community.
As the subject says I am trying to connect a new Vigor 2762ac to a PlusNet business ADSL2+ connection. The issue is that the router takes a very long time to sync, over 5 minutes+ and when it finally does connect the connection remains for about 3 minutes before the sync is lost and it starts the process again. When the connection is up I can do a standard speed test and I get the expected speeds. If I plug the Plusnet router back in the broadband is rock solid.
Plusnet settings:
Broadband username or login name:yourusername@plusdsl.net
Connection type or encapsulation: 'PPPoA' or 'PPP over ATM'
Password: Plusnet account password
Virtual Path Identifier (VPI): 0
Virtual Channel Identifier (VCI): 38
Multiplexing method: 'VC Based' or 'VCMUX' or 'VC-Multiplexing'
I couldn't get the images to show so I've linked them below
WAN General settings:

WAN Internet Settings:

Any thoughts gratefully received!
Rob

Maybe try one of the other firmwares (i.e. Modem Codes) :?:
Failing that, manual adjustment of SNR:?:

Is there a meaningful disconnection reason in SYSLOG?
For DSL models, we offer versions of different modem codes to meet different ISP's needs. For most areas, usually, the STD (Standard) version would work. But if it does not work as expected, please contact our local support, they will help you find the right modem code.https wrote:

Thanks for the reply.
SNR is an interesting one, looking at the stats on the Plusnet router I can see the SNR Margin is 3.9 downstream and 6.2 upstream. The Draytek SNR is a single figure, do you know how I would sum the figures from the Plusnet router to give me the right number for the Draytek?
Thanks
Rob

There are two SNR values reported (CUR/Downstream and FAR/Upstream), but you can only influence one of them with ADSL SNR (Downstream).
See:
https://www.draytek.co.uk/support/guides/kb-dsl-status-more
for an explanation of everything the Vigor reports.

Thanks for the info, the good news is that changing the SNR margin got it to sync properly so we're cooking on gas again!
Cheers for the support.

Well that is good news - I thought it was just a 'tweaking' tool, so I wasn't overly optimistic
BTW - Have you issued an "ADSL savecfg" command:?: It's not mentioned in Draytek's article, but the manual says
Which might mean the change is otherwise lost after a Power-Cycle - or it could mean something entirely different

This command can save the configuration into FLASH with a file format of cfg.
