Vigor AP960C - 2.4Ghz wifi issues... was created by arrudac30
Hi all.

I have been experiencing issues with this AP none stop. At every turn, I'm having to factory reset it, then 2.4Ghz wifi works without an issue for about 4 to 5 days then issues arise yet again.

I can see all the SSIDs availbale for my 2.4Ghz WIFIs but when I try to connect, it just won't connect. I have tried changing every single setting there is, even had it setup with no password at all, still won't connect.

Is this a know issue? The 5Ghz WIFI works without any issues but I need the 2.4Ghz for most of my IoTs devices.

Any help is trully appreciated.

The one thing I am yet to try is to revert back to a previous firmaware from the most recent one.

Much appreciated.

Regards,
Albert

I used 3 x AP960C in a mesh before I switched to AP906 and had no issue with the 2.4GHz band. Sorry that's all I can say, but you did ask if it was a "known issue".

Hi arrudac30 ,

I too have several AP960Cs working perfectly on both frequencies but have encountered a similar issue to yours in the past. The issue back then was the SSID for the 5Ghz was named the same as the 2.4Ghz, as expected, but the IOT devices that weren’t 5Ghz aware were clashing with the 5Ghz SSID. If I turned off the 5Ghz wifi the device would connect fine, once connected I could re-enable the 5Ghz wifi and everything worked, for a while, eventually the devices would get upset again.

Have you tried disabling the 5Ghz wifi for longer than 4 - 5 days to see if the 2.4Ghz drops? Or, create an additional separate SSID on the 2.4Ghz band ONLY, for your IOT devices and see how long that setup stays connected.

Was this a problem with the previous firmware?

Hi.
Yes, this was an issue on the previous firmware and the reason why I have upgraded it.
I have reverted to release 1.4.8 and the problem persists.
I'll try and have it off for a while then see what happens. When troubleshooting and doing a network/frequency scan it was coming up with all 2.4Ghz channels full to 100%.
I love Draytek products, but this is their very first AP I have bought, and the experience is being somewhat unpleasant.
Thanks.
